About M.A.R.Y. B.

M.A.R.Y. B. was established in 2012 to honor the memory of Mary T. (Bonacorsi) Bussiere. Mary was a nurse who worked in pediatric neurology. (To read more about Mary, click on the “Mary’s Story” link). The acronym M.A.R.Y. B. stands for Making Real Difference For Youth’s Benefit. The mission of the foundation is to support pediatric caregiving through medical education and advocacy programs.

At Bradley University, Mary’s alma mater, the Mary T. Bonacorsi Bussiere Memorial Nursing Scholarship Endowment has been established.  Recipients of the scholarship receive $1,000 annually to help aid in the cost of their nursing education.

The Mary Bussiere Scholarship for the Educational Advancement of Nurses at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare in St. Paul, Minnesota is granted to an employee pursuing either a baccalaureate degree in nursing or a graduate degree in nursing or another field related to healthcare.

The Mary Bussiere Nursing Education Fund at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island provides continuing education for emergency department nurses.

At Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, M.A.R.Y. B. donates to the Professional Development for Nurses fund.  The foundation has also provided meals at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago.
